History of the Tennessee Valley Vipers

The Tennessee Valley Vipers were a professional arena football team, playing nine seasons (2000-2004 and 2006-2009) in the Arena Football 2 (af2) league, the now defunct developmental league for the original Arena Football League (AFL). The team was a charter member of the af2 and played its home games at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. During its existence, the Vipers compiled a record of 102 wins and 56 losses, the third largest win total in af2 history. The franchise earned a reputation for being the “cradle of coaches” as four Viper head coaches moved on to become head coaches in the AFL, more than any other af2 franchise. The team won five division championships (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2009), one conference championship (2008), and one league championship (2008).
